Preparing the diorama building for paint or stain if there are any areas that have little cracks in between the trim or cracks in the siding some are repairable.
The joint compound works if you are painting the diorama building as long as you use it in little spots here & there. If you put too much on any area the paint will look different because it will not soak into the joint compound like it will in the basswood. So the better job you do with your cuts the better off you are. I messed up with a few cuts on purpose so you could see how it looks.
If you are staining you do not want to use joint compound at all because the stain will not soak into the joint compound like it does the basswood. When using stain the best thing to do is make sure all your cuts are perfect & everything matches up perfectly so you don’t have to worry about repairing any areas.
